Room 408, Saturday Morning

The dance? Had been nice. Nice in that sort of, 'I am here, I am not being particularly social, but I have a lovely date and I'm going to enjoy this, damn it,' kind of way that Jono was so good at. But that much social interaction was tiring, to say the least, and so he was absolutely planning on spending his Saturday in bed. And it would be great, and to hell with anything in the world that thought that he was going to be getting up, at least until late afternoon.

It was possible that Jonothon was slightly delusional, yes.

[For wee ones, roomies, whatever!]

Elizabeth wasn't particularly worried when she suddenly found herself in Fandom. She was totally used to teleporting between dimensions anyway, plus she could sense her parents close by.

She teleported to her father's location first, climbed up on to the bed, and pounced. "Daddy Daddy Daddy wake up!"

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That was possibly the most effective wake-up call that Jono had ever had, yes. Between the cat hissing and scrabbling away for dear life and the fact that there was a small child on top of him, calling him Daddy, his eyes were wide open in no time flat.

//Gah!//

Also, good morning, small child. Please don't mind too much while your daddy lays there and tries not to have a fit while he figures out what the hell is going on.

"Wake up wake up wake up!" Elizabeth said, cheerfully bouncing. "I'm hungry! Where are we?"

She hadn't quite realized that her father wasn't exactly looking like he should be yet.
furnaceface: (Waking Up-Ish)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, God. It was bouncing. Jono's eyebrows furrowed a bit, and he raised an arm to rub at his eyes before making the attempt to sit up, possibly to dislodge the very excitable tiny thing that had appeared seemingly out of nowhere in his room.

//We're somewhere,// he managed, with all of the certainty of somebody who had been awake for all of half a minute. //Yer hungry?//

He'd probably figure out what was going on sooner or later. This wasn't his first young child invasion, but it was the first one where he'd actually had a child of his own.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Elizabeth stopped bouncing, but she did squint her eyes and peer up at her father's face as he sat up. "Why are you talking in my head?" she said. She was used to that from Auntie Emma, so it didn't frighten her, at least. "And why is your face all covered up?"
furnaceface: (Wtf?)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
//Um.//

Really, Elizabeth. Your father was simply the personification of true eloquence, today.

//Sore throat?//

... Well, he didn't want to scare the kid.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That failed to satisfy Elizabeth's curiosity, so she was reaching up now with every intention of trying to pull down the bandages and see what they were hiding. She didn't sense a sore throat, and Mommy would've healed that, anyway.
furnaceface: (o_O)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
//Whoa! Okay, no no no, we don't go pulling at people's bandages, luv. It's poor manners.//

... At least Jonothon kind of fell into the 'Daddy' role easily enough.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're not blue," Elizabeth announced, finally cluing in on that. "Are you in disguise? Where's Mommy?"

This place was weird.
furnaceface: (Shock)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
//I'm not... Wot? Blue? I...//

What.

//I think other people look better in blue than I do, Sunshine. Er... where is yer mother usually at, first thing in th'morning?//

Blue?

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's usually with you!" Elizabeth said with an unspoken "duh."

She spied Joni, who was keeping a wary distance from the wee intruder. "Kitty!" she said happily, climbing over her father to get to the cat. "Is that Joni? She's small!"
furnaceface: (Mopey)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oof. Jonothons were not generally made for walking over, and he had to bite back another small bout of flailing until he could safely scrabble his way out of bed. There, no more being climbed on.

//Of course that's Joni. And of course she's small. She's a kitten, yet.//

The small child knew Joni. Okay. So this wasn't a case of her being in completely the wrong room. And...

... He was still trying to get his head around the 'blue' parts.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Joni wasn't entirely happy with being scooped up by an eager child and squeezed, and she managed to squirm out of Elizabeth's grasp and jump down from the bed.

"How comes she's small?" Elizabeth demanded. "And why isn't Mommy with you? Is she making breakfast?"

...better than Aunti Karla making breakfast, at least.
furnaceface: (Orly?)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
//She's... small because...// Jono squinted at the child. Really, now. Whose could she possibly be? //She might be making breakfast, I...// And then he bent over to pick up the kitten that was making little squeaks and mewls from around his ankles. //Who did you say you were?//

Well done.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He felt like Daddy and looked like him except for not being blue but Elizabeth was getting worried now. Maybe he'd been hit on the head and Mommy could heal him. "I'm Elizabeth, Daddy, you know that."
furnaceface: (Facepalm)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, being hit on the head was only one thing in a list of many things that could have caused Jono to forget! A few of those things being unfortunate, unfortunate canon.

//... Elizabeth. Right. I knew that, of course.//

He'd named his daughter after the Queen? He must have missed Britain more than he'd thought.

//While we're on th'subject of things that I already know, who's yer mother, luv?//

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Rather than just saying it, Elizabeth decided to just show Jono something that would totally clue him in as to whose daughter she was. Because that wouldn't be misunderstood at all, would it?

She scrunched her eyes closed and summoned up her Soul-Self. Unlike her mother's black shadow-raven form, hers was made of psionic fire.
furnaceface: (o_O)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
//Dear lord.//

Give Jono a moment. He was going to need that moment to get his head around the fact that his daughter appeared to be some sort of hyperactive Mini-Phoenix. Well, that, and to dislodge Joni's laws from his arm, because she was digging in for dear life.

//... Either yer mother is Raven, or else Cyclops is going to punch me in th'face.//

And Wolverine. And any one of a dozen other guys who had taken a shine to Jean.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're silly, Daddy," Elizabeth giggled, drawing her Soul-Self back into herself. "Of course Mommy is Mommy. And I know you don't have a sore throat because I would feel it if you did and heal you. Or Mommy would."
furnaceface: (Casual duds)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Absolutely Raven's daughter. Oh my.

//Well, then, I'm playing dress-up,// he offered, still not entirely certain what in the world was up with the blue, or why she didn't seem to understand what was up with the bandages. //Today, I'm not blue, and I have to wear all of this to keep people from knowing who I am. A disguise, like you said.//

A beat.

//... A sort of... secret identity... thing.//

Hey, if other X-Men could do it, Chamber was allowed, too.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"How'd you learn to talk like Auntie Emma?" Elizabeth said, tapping her head. "Oooooh, you used to do that a long long long time ago, didn't you?"
furnaceface: (Casual duds)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
//... Yes?//

Okay. So the girl was from his future, then. Which made him feel a little less weird about the prospect of somehow knocking some girl up when he'd been, like, thirteen.

And it would explain the blue. If she started going on about weird lips, he was making a run for the door.

//I... don't, anymore?// No, Jonothon, don't pump the poor girl for information. //Er. I mean. You said you were hungry?//

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Jono better hope Elizabeth didn't get hold of some blue lipstick and show him what she did when she pretended to be Daddy.

"Noooo you talk with your mouth," Elizabeth said. "And can I have pancakes? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease?"
furnaceface: (Wtf?)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-02-12 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
//Pancakes?//

Wait, that wasn't the sticking point, here.

//Mouth?//

...

//Pancakes. There must be some sort of pancake mix somewhere in here, I suppose. Or, perhaps I should call yer mother. Who makes th'better pancakes, luv?//

Not that it mattered much, really. A pancake was a pancake, unless Karla was cooking it.

[identity profile] empathic-fire.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Your pancakes are the bestest!" Elizabeth said. But she might have been saying that because he was there and her mother wasn't. She knew how to work the system.

"But I wanna see Mommy, too!" she added.
