Room 408, Sunday, Afternoon

When you had the room to yourself and the holiday season was mostly over, there were only so many ways for a bloke to pass the time.

Jono had been up all hours of last night playing on his guitar, for example.

Which meant that today? He was hell-bent on sleeping in. Or, at the very least, hell-bent on laying on his back and staring at the ceiling for as much of the day as humanly possible. It was boring as hell, yes, but no less exciting than staring at the wall had been, yesterday. Perhaps tomorrow, to mix things up a bit, he'd look at the floor some instead.

[How enthralling! Tacked up with one in mind, but open if anyone wants to visit otherwise.]

//I think I might,// Jono agreed. //I think I'd almost fit in, in New York. It's just that sort of city where nobody bothers to look twice.// He raised an eyebrow. //Well, maybe they'd look twice if I wore th'helmet.//

But he loved the helmet!

"Could you pretend to be a performance artist of some kind?" Ben teased. They had lots of crazy people in Coruscant.

Jono actually took a moment to seriously consider that. Come to think of it, he'd seen meta for storm troopers dancing on sidewalks, and he'd heard tell of a meta for Darth Vader playing fiddle, once...

//If I bring my guitar, they might throw quarters at me, actually.//

It was tempting.

"As a 'here, have money' thing, and not a 'we're assaulting you' thing, right?" Ben checked.

//I suppose that depends entirely on whether or not they like my music.// A pause. //Or Thor.//

"I can go with you to make sure they don't get too unruly," Ben offered. "I used to be in security."

[furnaceface]

//So yer saying that I ought to give it a try? Security certainly sounds tempting, in that case.//

It probably said a good deal about how much the helmet had done for Jono's mood that he actually was contemplating playing his guitar on a streetcorner somewhere in NYC, while wearing the helmet. Didn't it?

//What're th'chances that I'd be able to draft yer to sing?//

Fairly high, though Ben was not exactly a singer.

"Depends what you play," he replied.

//Any preferences? If yer give me requests now, I'll have time to learn whatever I don't know before th'trip.//

And he would. Happily. Mmm, delicious music.

"I don't know," Ben mused, "what's good music for hanging out on street corners?"

//Jazz, th'blues, light rock, possibly folk or country, depending on where yer at. Nothing loud and intrusive, but yer don't want it to be so soft that nobody up and takes notice, either.//

Jonothon, experienced at busking? No, never.

Ben nodded thoughtfully. "Maybe it'd be faster for me to learn stuff from here. Singing things from a different galaxy might cut in on your profit."

//People do tend to be more likely to stop and listen when it's a song they already like,// Jono mused. //Perhaps a bit of both, then? I'm willing to learn anything yer can throw at me, if yer willing to pick up on some local music, too.//
